It is finally autumn and I am so happy to have the cooler weather… it was a brutal summer. I love autumn, with the crisp weather and changing leaves, it is my favorite time of year. It also is the start of all the holidays: Halloween, Thanksgiving, and then the winter holidays.

Halloween is one of my favorite times of the year also. I used to make my kids Halloween costumes every year since my oldest was 2 years old. I don’t anymore, of course, because they are too old to go trick-or-treating. If they want costumes now they can make them theirselves.

Here are a few of the costumes that I have made for my kids and one for myself. I made these completely from scratch without a pattern. Even the boots on anakin are made they are not real boots but strap over his sneakers. The costume for me I entered it into a costume contest(I didn’t win) that is why it has that writing on it. I could not find my picture.


Well, on with the progress report. I am still on a plateau. Kind of tired of saying that, but it is what it is. I was supposed to start tracking and working out last month, however, I just did not get to it. I hope to do better this month.

Although, I am still very glad that I lost all the weight I have so far and I do hope to lose more weight. I have a theory that if you have spent a lot of time at one specific weight that you may stay there for a while when you start losing, I was at this weight for a long time. Plus, the last plateau I had was at a weight I was at for a while. So, it is either a weird coincidence or there is something to this theory. In any case, again I hope to break this plateau soon.

Keto Haters


Let’s face it, there are going to be your detractors for everything. Keto is no exception. There are a lot of valid points and reasons why you should not go on a ketogenic diet. However, there are a lot of people out there who are really just misinformed about it and how it all works. There are also those who just want to slam it because it does not fit in with their own lifestyle or have tried it and has not worked for them.


Being on the Keto Diet does not mean that you just have to sit around and eat meat and dairy, bacon and butter all day long. Believe it or not, that is what a lot of people think. Sure, it is part of it, but not the whole story. I actually consume a mostly vegetarian diet and have been on the Keto Diet for well over a year now.


Being in ketosis is simply a metabolic state where your carbohydrates are extremely low. There is more science to it than that, but that is the gist of it. Yes, you are going to have to up your fat and protein intake, but that is not as constrictive as it may seem.


Consume fats liberally (i.e. heavy cream, butter, coconut oil, olive oil) and consume proteins moderately (i.e. beef, fish, bacon, poultry). However, you also have to bring in some fruits, nuts, and vegetables (i.e. spinach, lettuce, celery, avocado). Salt (Himalayan Pink) is an essential staple on the diet and herbs and spices help add taste. Water needs to be increased as well as supplements (a good multivitamin and MCT oil). That is pretty much the basics but do your homework.


Of course, you are going to have to put in a little bit of work and do some research. In the beginning, you will probably get the keto flu (i.e hunger, bad breath, headache, fatigue, etc.), but that does not last. It also does not have to be boring, ordinary, and bland. The keto diet is pretty popular right now (as of this writing), so there are a ton of tasty recipes you can find on the internet (especially ours).


My point is not to get hung up on all the negative hype surrounding the Keto Diet. There are a lot of naysayers out there and a lot of misinformation, so it can be like walking through a minefield. If it is not for you, that is fine, however, please be educated when you are talking about it with others. Just try to find the people with years of experience with the diet who can back up what they are saying.
